JAO Health Policy [Updated 2/24/23]

Illness

• Children who show signs of illness in the morning should not be sent to school unless accompanied by a doctor’s note. If your child becomes ill during the day, we will contact you or others listed on your emergency contact list, Students must be picked up within an hour from notification.

• Children should return to school only after 24 hours of antibiotics and/or 24 hours of being fever free without the aid of fever reducing medications.

• If your child vomits, they must stay home for 24 hours from the last time they vomited.

• If your child is exhibiting specific COVID-like symptoms please stay home. 

• If your child tests positive for COVID, he/she must be quarantined from school for 5 days. May return to school if symptom free, but must wear a mask for an additional 5 days.

• No requirement to isolate if exposed to Covid unless he/she becomes symptomatic.
